The Gathering 2009
In July 2009 Red Sky at Night Ltd produced the largest highland games and clan gathering in history as part of Scotland’s ‘Year of Homecoming’.
The event consisted of a huge Highland Games arena in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, followed by an evening procession of 8,000 clan members up the length of the Royal Mile and a spectacular one-off theatrical performance on Edinburgh Castle’s esplanade.
The event was a phenomenal success with 60,000 visitors over the July weekend of festivities and it enjoyed unprecedented media coverage across the globe.
